Release Notes - Lap v0.2.0

Lap v0.2.0 is a major under-the-hood update focused on database efficiency and indexing performance, with broad new video format support across all platforms.

Upgrading from v0.1.x? You can install v0.2.0 directly — the database will be migrated automatically.

🚀 Highlights

  • Database optimization reduces database size by over 90% compared to v0.1.x. Future versions will add database backup and restore support to keep your data safe. (#50)
  • Rebuilt scanning engine cuts album scan time by 100%+, reaching industry-leading performance. A 100K-item library that previously took ~3 hours to scan now completes in approximately 1 hour. Very large libraries maintain consistent performance and a smooth user experience at scale. (#57)
  • Expanded video format support with broad cross-platform coverage. (#66) Supported formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and 20+ other formats.

🐞 Bug Fixes

  • Fixed keyboard shortcuts under non-Latin IME input. (#59)
  • Fixed image edits so saved files correctly preserve metadata. (#64)
  • Fixed incorrect rotation for images from some older devices. (#69)
  • Improved cleanup when removing libraries, including active library state updates and database file cleanup.
  • Fixed stale thumbnails with cache busting and prevented the adjustment overlay from appearing during image editing.

🔧 Other Improvements

  • Added keyboard navigation to the tag dialog and improved tag editing UX. Thanks to Dorito for the contributions. (#58, #59)
  • Centralized navigation sorting settings and simplified album list actions.
  • Added a new vertical filmstrip in the viewer together with a refined File Info experience for faster browsing in large libraries.
  • Refined the album file breakdown UI, thumbnail border layout, and edit-image compare preview.
  • Made image processing commands asynchronous to keep the UI more responsive during edits and thumbnail work.
